Category: Science | Subcategory: Earth & Space Science | Source: Arizona Science Standards – Adopted October 2018

Academic Anchor:

The Earth and our solar system are a very small part of one of many galaxies within the Universe.

Anchor Summary:

This anchor standard focuses on understanding space and celestial phenomena. We will explore how objects in the sky move and interact. We'll analyze data to learn how gravity, the force that pulls things together, is affected by mass and distance. We'll also see how nuclear fusion, a powerful process, plays a role in the life of a star. By studying models and evidence, we'll understand eclipses, moon phases, and tides. We'll observe how the Sun, Moon, and stars seem to move in the sky due to Earth's own movements. We'll even use math to explain planetary motion and explore the vastness of our solar system and beyond. It's like becoming space detectives, discovering the secrets of the universe.

My 7 year old put this together and learned so much about the planets and space. We also read the space book from the Cat in the Hat knows a lot about that series to further discussions.
